For the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of shooting more than a handful of events that happen to be of cousins, or sisters of previous weddings I’ve shot. – so many, in fact, that it reached the point where my friends are now previous brides.

I think it’s the excitement, the group collaboration from both the bride and the groom’s families, and the raw emotion, that make me love the family even more. Every wedding has to have a story.

When Mishkat’s mother, Duaa, contacted me for her second daughters wedding, it was déjà vu again. We initially planned, with the Saudi wedding planner Ghadeer Ashoor, to have the wedding somewhere in Europe. So the idea’s of a small wedding in Switzerland, then Capri, then to Italy…well, let’s just say weather and the elderly guests were bigger factors that were considered. So plan shifted back to good old Four Season‘s hotel in Sharm Alsheikh, Egypt.

I already shot Mishkat’s older sisters wedding 3 years before, so knew the wedding crowd would be fun. Just like before, from the minute I arrived I could immediately tell that both families had an eye for detail; a photographer’s dream. Both families of groom and bride were assessing the decor of the beautiful stage from before noon, and I found it so touching to see how they were taking their son and daughter’s wedding so seriously on every level, doing their utmost to make sure it was perfect. Ghadeer was already running around just like she did three years ago, but now with much more experience on the grounds.

Mishkat’s lace wedding dress did all the talking by itself and needed minimal accessorising, so the beautiful bride had to just wear a bridal veil to keep her hijab on. Every last touch was carefully considered, right down to the t-shirts and robes encrusted ‘father’ and ‘sisters’ of bride  delicately customized.

As family members shared their happiness, tears and a great memorable occasion, I thoroughly enjoyed snapping away and capturing all the priceless and magical moments on camera. The glamorous couple and their family and friends danced and celebrated long into the night and it was an honour and a pleasure to be a part of this perfect Hijazi wedding.
